Making a Collective Impact

Working collectively we are able to accomplish great things. The Mid-Kettle Moraine Partners Group has had a measurable impact in directing public and private efforts and funds to protect the landscape by identifying the boundaries of the area and by influencing public and private purchases that fill out the green belt. The Partners believe that, while law and money are important to the preservation of this landscape, its permanent protection will be assured only if we work collectively to protect this important region as we help more and more people visit it and discover for themselves its charms and powers.

What is Collective Impact?

A commitment of a group made up of individuals from different sectors to a common agenda for solving a specific social problem.

In order for organizations such at the Mid Kettle Moraine Partners to create lasting solutions to social and environment problems on a large-scale, we need to better coordinate our efforts and work together around a clearly defined goal.  Yet all too often organizations working towards the same end act in isolation from each other. Collective impact moves away from this, requiring organizations to form cross-sector coalitions in order to make meaningful and sustainable progress on.  Collective impact is not merely a matter of encouraging more collaboration or public-private partnerships. It requires a systemic approach to social impact that focuses on the relationships between organizations and the progress toward shared objectives.

Collective Impact Partners

The Partners believe unsustainable practices and lack of knowledge threaten the health and vitality of the unique natural and cultural landscape. Our collective includes individuals from many diverse sectors, including education, tourism business, non-profit, government as well as the general public.

Each Mid Kettle Moraine Partner has made a commitment to advance our common agenda as they define their efforts and pursue mutually reinforcing activities within the region.  The Partners have also committed to monitor our success by tracking, submitting and compiling numerous shared measures.
